Green tea which is produced through an arduous selection process of handpicking new sprouts that withstood the snow of winter every April and May, is managed scientifically and has an earthy taste but also smooth fragrance. Mudeungsan Green tea of the current day can be traced back to Heo Baekryun, the master of Namjong paintings who founded Gwangju agricultural vocational high school in 1946 as a part of the rural revival movement after independence and founded a tea plantation called Samedawon (三愛茶園) by taking over the tea garden. From the verse (A taste of a cup of Green tea was better than that of any food) of the poem Ilguchunsulseungjae (一歐春雪勝醍醐), by Na Daekyung of the Song Dynasty, the name ‘Chunsul’ was derived, and the Green tea supply movement by master Heo Baekryun widely spread the awareness of the forgotten Korean tea culture and unique tea ceremony to contribute to healthy national mentality.

Origin of Green tea
The Green tea tree is a kind of camellia which is know to originate from ancient China and India. In Samguksagi (三國史記), there is a record of the tea planted in Korea from seed brought from China since the time of Queen Seondeok of Silla Dynasty (632 ~ 647). In the third year of King Heung-deok (828), there is a record of planting tea seeds brought from China in large quantities through the generations, and according to the records of the King Sejong of the Joseon Dynasty, there is history of offering key from each gun and hyeon of various provinces, and looking at the range, there are records that the tea was produced and offered from 28 gun of Cholla province, and 8 gun of Gyeongsang province. Our traditional tea, which had descended from the Three Kingdoms period, began to spread through ambassador Kim Daeryum of Silla spreading tea seeds on Jirisan, and since the Goryeo Dynasty, tea was widely used for feasts and ancestral rites. During the Chosun Dynasty, Dasan Jeong Yak-yong, grew tea on his Exile in Gangjin. The Record of the culture was established through
Green tea cultivation condition
Due to the nature of the tea, it is a special crop cultivated in sub-tropical climate south of latitude 35 °, and because of its characteristic where it freezes to death under – 15 ° C, it is distributed in the southern part of Ulsan in Gyeongnam, part of the southern coast of Byeonsan Peninsula in Jeonbuk, Gwangju, Chonnam and Jeju. The tea fields are mainly face east or south, and it needs drainage and ventilation, as well as soil with micaceous leaf mold, and also it needs to be an ideal area with large temperature range where the morning mist passes. We can see from the records that the production of Green tea from Mudeungsan in 1911 is more than the output from the whole country's Green tea production, and this shows that the area Mudeungsan Green tea grows is the ideal tea plantation region based on geography and surrounding climate.
